Highlights of this Course

As the Department of Ophthalmology for the Tufts University School of Medicine, New England Eye Center hosts weekly Grand Rounds.  Grand Rounds is developed and executed in accordance with the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) guidelines. A series of patient cases is presented weekly by residents, fellows and faculty, followed by a discussion with faculty members, invited professors and community ophthalmologists.

Course Description

Interesting cases from the weekly New England Eye Center Grand Rounds are presented and discussed.  References are available for further study.

    Syllabus

    Objectives

    • Offers the residents and fellows with the opportunity to study rare or unusual diseases of the eye that they would not ordinarily get to see or discuss.
    • Provides the residents and fellows with the opportunity to develop a better understanding of the pathophysiology, different diagnosis and management options for ophthalmic diseases and recognition of unusual disease entities.
    • Equips the residents and fellows with a better understanding of the history of ophthalmic care and the modern day costs associated with the delivery of medical care.
    • Anticipates that patient care will be improved as well as residents and fellows' diagnostic abilities.
